Blog III - Partners in Time

With the name decided upon (see Blog II), our next task related to the company branding and values was to try and succinctly portray what X & X Watches was about. We knew from the start what we wanted our company to represent, but how could we verbalise this in short enough form to be a tagline for the business.

In order to achieve this, we went back to the beginning. Both of us are watch enthusiasts and have been collecting personally for years. This has given us a lot of experience in buying and selling watches and the accrual of customer service interactions this has afforded us would turn out to be the foundation of the business.

With X & X, we felt as though we could combine the best of these experiences by building a service that even the most seasoned collector would appreciate and this means doing a number of things well. However, at the forefront of these, communication is key. Right from the first point a potential customer contacts us, we want to make them feel comfortable and also make it apparent that they are talking to people who are passionate about watches. That communication should also extend post purchase and beyond. When someone buys a watch, they want regular communication on the logistics and we update at every stage from purchase to the watch being on your wrist. It shouldn’t end there, though. Sometimes purchasing experiences feel like you are cut off once the seller has your money and shipped your item, but to us it is important that customers do not feel like this. To that end, we encourage people to share photos of their watch by tagging our Instagram and getting in touch to give us any feedback they may have. We believe that this level of open communication will be a differentiating factor recognised by anyone who has purchased a luxury watch before.

However, not every buyer is experienced, so it is equally important to us that someone considering their first luxury timepiece feels they have any support needed to help make an informed purchase. This is where our own knowledge and experience is particularly valuable and we will offer that wherever we can. For us, the pleasure in running this business comes from offering people the guidance that we perhaps missed in the early days of our own watch collecting journeys. This defines what the business is about, accompanying you on your journey, and that is how we arrived at a tagline that we believe sums this up. Whether you are buying your first watch or your tenth, whether you are passionate about horology or simply appreciate the aesthetics of a stunning watch, we are your Partners in Time.
